Le Coq Sportif was born in 1882 in Romilly-sur-Seine in the Aube region of France. It was Émile Camuset who, from his textile workshop, began designing and producing sports textiles. For him, a sports fan, it was only natural to combine his profession with his passion. The company quickly became one of the world's leading sports brands, and in its wake the brand of French sport, accompanying both professional and amateur teams, and even supplying the France teams at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris.

In the 70s and 80s, Le Coq Sportif really came into its own, outfitting the majority of clubs 's major soccer and rugby teams. The brand was associated with many sporting achievements and titles.
